For a more comfortable desert experience, we recommend arriving in the late afternoon or evening, when the worst heat has passed. You can check into your hotel, refresh yourself and then enjoy a camel ride around sunset. Afterward, spend the night somewhere with air conditioning so you can sleep comfortably.

Later in the afternoon or evening, you can head back out to enjoy Marrakech when temperatures become more pleasant.
From Marrakech, you can also take day trips to places such as Essaouira or the Atlas Mountains, allowing you to experience very different landscapes without packing and unpacking every day.

November is one of our favorite months for a Sahara Desert experience. Temperatures in the desert become much more comfortable than during the summer, making it easier to enjoy the dunes, explore the surrounding areas and spend time outdoors.
Our biggest recommendation for November travelers is simple: stay longer in the desert.
Many travelers plan only one night in the Sahara, while spending several nights in Marrakech or other cities. We think this is a missed opportunity. The desert is not simply a place to arrive in the evening, sleep in a camp and leave the next morning. With at least two nights, you have time to slow down and experience the desert properly.
A second night gives you the opportunity to explore more of the Erg Chebbi area around Merzouga, experience the changing light across the dunes, visit local communities and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere without constantly watching the clock.
November also brings shorter days and beautiful golden-hour light, which can be especially rewarding for photographers. The low angle of the sun can create vivid colors and long shadows across the dunes, particularly around sunrise and sunset.
