Tour overview
This 9 day tour covers a lot of ground, from the northern mountains to the Sahara Desert and back to northern Morocco. You’ll start in Tangier and head to Chefchaouen, a picturesque town in the Rif Mountains. Then, you’ll travel to Fez, one of Morocco’s oldest imperial cities, and explore its medina and historic sites. The tour continues to Merzouga, where you’ll experience life in a desert camp and see the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. You’ll also visit the Todgha Gorges, Boumalne Dades, and Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The tour ends in Tangier, with stops in Marrakech and Casablanca along the way.

Itinerary
Day 1: Tangier - Chefchouen
Meet in Tangier with a possible short tour of Tangier depending on your time arrival. Later on departure to Chefchaouen via the Rif Mountains with enclosed valleys. We visit Chefchaouen, an authentic town characterized with white and blue houses.
Enjoy an evening walk in the alleys and see farmers selling their products raised in the countryside.
Chefchaouen attractions will include: Utta Hamam, the main square in the town. Also take a light hike to natural springs called Ras el Ma, and a potential visit to the Kasbah, main historical building in the Chefchaouen.
Take more time to wander in all the narrow streets of this blue town and see friendly people selling their agricultural product brought from the nearby countryside and the home made goat cheese!

Day 2: Chefchaouen - Fez
After breakfast, we set off for Fez/ also Fes. Along the way, enjoy superb view of olive trees and wheat cultivation upon the hills of Rif region. In the afternoon, arrive to Fes and start a guided tour of the medina.
Fez attractions include the Royal Palace: main beautifully decorated gates, the pottery and ceramic quarter: best thing to know about Fes. Visit the Chaouara tanneries: an old tradition to treat the animal leather to make fabrics like slippers, jackets, poofs… this custom has resisted the time and still functioning just the way it was in the 14 century.
Navigate the alleys with an informative tour guide to see the deep of the medina and get a closer eye on artisans, bazars, shops, animals. After an active walk we bring back to your hotel for the overnight.
Day 3: Fez – Midelt - Merzouga
After breakfast, Depart to Merzouga desert called Erg Chebbi. On the way we cross the town of Imouzzer, a summer town which gives out to Sais plains. Continue through Ifrane, famous for its slanted rooves to be adapted to snowy winter. After a short break near the Stone lion sculpture, we move on through Ifrane national park. Stop in Azrou cedar forest where to take pictures of the macaque monkeys: the remnant of the middle Atlas Fauna. You’ll be transferred to Midelt with a break for lunch.
The afternoon drive will take you to the town of Merzouga. Enjoy the picturesque view of palm trees along the valley of Ziz. Pass Erfoud and if interested take a short pause to see the fossilized stones. Drive the rest of the way on black stony desert to reach Merzouga in the evening. Check into the hotel. Rest & dinner.
Day 4: Merzouga Desert Experience
Today is reserved to explore Merzouga surroundings. Erg Chebbi sand dunes remark the start of the Grand Sahara. The sand dunes are a gift from God that stands over 25 km. By chance on a rainy season, you’ll include a visit of the Serrij lake which attract many sorts of migratory birds.
in Khamlia; a town know for the black descendant people of Africa, we will attend a show and enjoy some music of Gnaoua: best reserved music of Africa.
Other activities for today, is that you’ll visit a Moroccan nomad family. The last nomad generation on 21st century and learn about their lifestyle.
Drive back to the town for a lunch break and get ready for the Sahara camping experience.
As a choice, you’ll be taken by camels to cross the sand dunes and enjoy sunset on the way to the camp. Alternatively, you’ll be transferred by car straight to the camp.

Day 5: Merzouga - Todgha Gorges -Boumalne Dades
Wake up for sunrise lovely pictures (optional) and have breakfast at the campsite. Transfer back to your car and back to the road again towards the town of Tinghir. On the way, a potential visit to the traditional Souk of Rissani will be scheduled under interest and if your itinerary for today falls on the Market day (souk).
In Tinghir, drive to the cliffs called Todra gorges where time will be taken to enjoy this natural geological fault that impresses locals and tourists alike. Take a half an hour to walk in the canyons and enjoy sights of fresh river and majestic rocks where experienced mountaineers would do some rock climbing.
After lunch break, you’ll be transferred to Boumalne Dades known for its stunning red clay valley and green gardens. While driving, contemplate the ochre colors and nice rock formation. Arrive to your hotel and check in. Dinner and breakfast.
Day 6: Boumalne Dades - Ait Ben Haddou-Marrakech
Breakfast and Departure to Marrakech along the way of thousand Kasbah. Cross Kalaa M’gouna: a town for the rose water extraction and then Skoura village to arrive to Ouarzazate. Lunch and visit of Ksar Ait Ben Haddou to explore the most attractive Kasbah in Morocco. The village was declared a worldd heritage patrimony by the UNESCO, and many films have been shot in this kasbah. After lunch, we drive the rest of the journey Via Tizi N Tichka (260 M) to reacg Marrakech in the early evening. Hotel check in. Take time to walk around Jamaa el Fna Square and see Marrakech medina and souk by night.
Day 7: Marrakech Tour
Today will be dedicated to explore Marrakech. Historical visit of Marrakech will include a visit to the koutoubia Mosque from the exterior (the mosque is the twin tower of Giralda in Seville, Spain). Walk in the royal Kasbah district of Marrakech. The Saadian tombs demonstrate the Moorish architecture with its perfection, and a potential visit will be included to those tombs, otherwise move to the Bahia palace: best visited place in Marrakech.
Navigate the labyrinth of Marrakech and visit Madrassa Ben Youssef. The guide takes you to the restaurant for lunch, and drop off at the hotel.
Evening drums will draw you to the Jamaa el Fna (main city square). It’s a festival atmosphere, with snake charmers, Berber and Gnaoua musicians, and storytellers. The Square illuminated by lamplight and wreathed in smoke. Food stalls on the square sell fresh salads, soups, fried fish and chips, chicken and beef kebabs and even boiled snails or sheep’s head. Finish it off with a glass of sweet cinnamon tea.
Day 8: Marrakech - Rabat
We set off for Rabat via Casablanca where we visit the biggest Mosque in Morocco: Hassan 2 Mosque. Continuation to Rabat: the political capital city of Morocco where to visit Hassan unfinished mosque, the Oudaya Kasbah. And enjoy a nice ocean breeze along the Atlantic Ocean.
After hotel check in, you may wish to stroll in the modern Rabat or navigate the medina. Rest and overnight in Rabat hotel.
Day 9: Rabat - Tangier :
At the appropriate time we depart to Tangier, and transfer to the airport/port. The end of our services.
Like every tour here, you may wish to end the tour in Casablanca or Rabat and we are flexible to take you there.
