Tour overview
The 4 days Fes desert tour takes you through the best of the South East of Morocco, starting from Fez, the spiritual center of the country. You’ll explore the ancient medina of Fez, visit the Karaouiyin University, and wander through the vibrant streets of the old city. From Fez, you’ll travel to Merzouga, where you’ll ride camels through the Erg Chebbi dunes and experience the magic of the desert and daily nomad life. Along the way, you’ll pass through Berber villages, see traditional ways of life, and enjoy breathtaking scenery. The tour ends with a return to Fez, giving you a treat of best Sahara desert experience from Fes.

Itinerary
Day 1: Fez Airport - Fes Hotel
Meet at Fes airport and transfer to the hotel in Fes. Fez or Fes is the first Moroccan imperial city. It holds a wealth of attractions and described as the spiritual centre of Morocco.
If you arrive in the morning, its is possible to arrange a guided tour of Fes el Bali ( Fes medina) and visit important historical attractions. Otherwise, we will transfer you to the hotel. Check in & overnight.
Day 2: Fez – Ifrane - Midelt - Ziz valley - Merzouga
After breakfast, we depart to Merzouga. On the road we cross several Berber towns like Imouzzèr: a town that gives out to Sais plains, then Ifrane a summer town in the Middle Atlas Mountains and which bears the name of the Switzerland of Morocco. continue the drive to Azrou Cedar forest, an important national park that preserve different trees like cedar wood and some animal species like monkeys.
Stop to take pictures of the Barbary apes: monkeys of the region.
Later on continue to Midelt for lunch. In the afternoon, continue via the occidental high Atlas Mountains with its deep Ziz valley. Enjoy enchanting views of the palm trees at the Ziz valley, and traverse Erfoud.
Transfer to Merzouga where you check into the hotel. Diner and over night
Day 3: Merzouga Experience & Desert camping
Breakfast at Merzouga hotel.
Take an easy off road drive to reconcile with the long drive of the previous day between Merzouga and Fes. Enjoy the sightseeing near Merzouga at low pace.
From the hotel, take an off road drive with the jeep and visit some isolated nomad families who still live at the edge of Erg Chebbi sand dunes. There learn some stories about life of those nomads.
Travel further to visit the abandoned mines of Mifis where the mines of cobalt are dug by people from the area.
Attend a Gnaoua music show with the group of the ” desert pigeons” and stop in a nearby restaurant for lunch.
In the afternoon, change the vehicle with the camels and take a camel ride over an ocean of sand dunes. Imagine yoursel being on the top of a camel and taking photos of sand dunes. Open your eyes and see as far as you can.
Attend the moment when the sun goes down to disappear from the horizon and the darkness falls over the sand dunes.
Arrive with camels to the camp, get some welcoming drink. Dinner will be serve.
Enjoy the music with happy campers and take your time to gaze at the stars and contemplate the infinite silence. This will give some balance to your mind, away from the crowded and stressful daily life. Good night!
Day 4: Merzouga – Fez
This morning you wake up for sunrise lovely pictures, and you drive back your camels to the town where you’ll meet your driver.
Travel along the valley of Ziz to Errachidia and further across the occidental high Atlas Mountains with its Jurassic rocks.
Continue to Midelt for lunch and drive through the Cedar forest of Azrou where we meet monkeys. The rest of your tour will be driving to Fez through Ifrane, Imouzer to arrive to Fez in the early evening. We drop you in your Riad. end of the tour.
