Itinerary

1

Day 1: Casablanca - Rabat - Meknes

Meeting is in Casablanca Mohamed V airport or at your hotel.  Transfer to down town. In Casablanca we visit the Hassan II mosque, the second biggest religious site after Mecca. The Mosque has a view out to the Atlantic Ocean and part of it is established on the sea. The minaret is 200 meters; this makes the mosque visible from the outskirts of Casablanca.  Possible break for a drink at the legendary Rick’s café. before heading to Rabat, the administrative capital of Morocco. Rabat is modern, spacious with nice gardens. The visit of Rabat includes the Hassan Tower, the Mechouar of the royal palace, the Oudaya Kasbah. Transfer to Meknes. Overnight.

Day 2: Meknes - Fez

Breakfast at the hotel. Start the guided city tour of Meknes. the city is another Moroccan imperial city like Rabat. It holds the ville nouvelle and the Medina. It was the capital of the Sultan Moulay Ismail during the 17 century, and it was besieged by huge walls for protection. Sightseeing includes Moulay Ismail mausoleum, the basin Swani, the Museum Ain Smen and the old cereal storage rooms.

Travel to Northern Meknes to Volubilis. Take a guided visit of the Roman ruins called Volubilis, see arches, Mosaics, old olive millstone…it is a complete ruin urban area.

Including a break for lunch at the right time and transfer to Fes. Hotel check in and overnight.

Day 3: Fes guided tour

Fez or Fes is the first Moroccan imperial city. It holds a wealth of attractions and described as the spiritual center of Morocco. The Karaouiyin University of Fez is considered among the oldest in the world. Hiring a local guide in Fez is essential to have a complete visit. You start the journey with a visit of exterior gate of the royal palace. Continue the orientation tour and see the ceramics at the outskirts of Fes. You’ll see best pottery of Fes looking at hand made artefacts.

You move with your guide to explore the ancient University of Qaraouiyine the Tanneries and the vibrant alleys of the old quarter. You will admire the bustling streets of the Medina where merchants open their shops. After an active journey we take you back to your hotel.

Day 4: Fez – Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, we depart to Merzouga desert. On the way we cross the town of Immouez, a summer resort a town which gives out the Sais plains: agricultural area in central Morocco.  Continue the journey to Ifrane, famous for the university of al Akhawayn (the brother’s university), and its slanted rooves of its houses to be adapted to snowfalls in winter.

After a short break continue through the Cedar forest where you’ll see the barbary apes (monkeys from the area). Head to Midelt and include a stop for lunch. keep the journey through the High Atlas Mountains with a remarkable change from the green forest to semi-arid lands.

Cross Errachida and from there enjoy the best view of date palm trees along the valley of Ziz.

Transfer via Erfoud which is famous for the fossil’s preparation. Drive the rest of the itinerary to Merzouga where to start your camel trek experience to reach the desert camp. Free time to enjoy the vast sand dunes and entertain yourself with local music after dinner. Enjoy the moment of quietness while gazing at the milky way! good night.

Day 5: Merzouga - Todgha gorges - Boumalne de Dades

In order to take lovely pictures, you will be awakening before sunrise (optional). Then, you will be served breakfast. Depart back to the town either on camel humps or use the car back to the town of Merzouga.

Start with your driver to Dades valley, and stop in Rissani to have a visit of the local Market if you coincide with day market. Drive via Alnif and then up Northern to Tinghir, kbown for the best canyons in Morocco: The Todra gorges. Take some time to walk among the cliffs of Todgha gorges and along the Todgha river where we exchange the heat of the Sahara Desert with the cool weather of the Atlas Mountains. Keep moving to Dades Gorges via Boumalne. Overnight and dinner in a hotel.

Day 6: Boumalne de Dades - Ouarzazate - Marrakech

After breakfast, drive to Marrakech. On the way we cross the village of roses where the festival of roses is taken place every year. We drive through Ouarzazate to Ait Ben Hadou Village where we visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Benhadou which is declared a world heritage by the UNESCO and where many movies have been shot, to mention a few the Gladiatot, Lawrence of Arabia and so on. After lunch we drive the rest of our way to Marrakech via the Tichka Pass(2260m). Arrival in Marrakech at the early evening and guidance to your Riad,

Day 7: Marrakech sightseeing

Today will be dedicated to explore Marrakech. Historical visit of Marrakech will include Menara garden, a magnificent pool surrounded by flowers and other impressive sights such as the koutoubia Mosque (the twin tower of Giralda in Seville, Spain). The Saadian tombs demonstrate the Moorish architecture with its perfection, The Bahia palace and Madrassa Ben Youssef. The guide takes you to the restaurant for lunch. Evening drums will draw you to the Djemaa El Fna (main city square). It’s a festival atmosphere, with snake charmers, Berber and Gnoua musicians, and storytellers illuminated by lamplight and wreathed in smoke. Food stalls on the square sell fresh salads, soups, fried fish and chips, chicken and beef kebabs and even boiled snails or sheep’s head. Finish it off with a glass of sweet cinnamon tea.

Day 8: Marrakech - Casablanca

After breakfast, at the appropriate time we transfer you to Casablanca airport for your flight home. Have a safe flight, Farwell!
