The 9 days Morocco tour below takes you on a journey through the country most iconic places versus the unspolied natural wonders of Morocco. You’ll visit Rabat, the modern capital, before heading to Casablanca and further to Essaouira. Travel further along the coast to Agadir and to the little Marrakech called Taroudant. From there you’ll enjoy the authentic South of Morocco with its unspolied nature and beautiful & amazing valleys of palm groves and adove made houses. Enjoy an off road adventure and a memorable desert camping with a camel trek at Erg Chegaga. See Ouarzazate and the Atlas Studio and have a scenic road drive from Ouarzazate to Marrakech, the end point o your Sheltering Sky Tour.

Itinerary
Day 1: Tangier - Chefchaouen
Meet in Tangier airport or sea port then we make a short visit of Tangier. Through the mountainous road of the Rif Mountains, we transfer you to the blue city named Chefchaouen. The city is located at the edge of two sharp Mountains from where its name is taken. Echchaouen means the horns of a goat in the Berber language.
After a scenic road you’ll be transfer to your hotel in Chefchaouen. From there start an easy walking tour to enjoy its blue shaded houses and alleys where Chefchaoueni people exhibit their artisanal for the city’s visitors.
Walk through the main Square of Chefchaouen called Utta hamam, and you may visit its 14 century citadel to enjoy the history of Chefchaouen through pictures and people’s activities.
Wander in its alleys and have a hike into the Ras el Ma Springs. And if you are more energetic, you may wish to hike above the city and have a complete view of the city from the Spanish Mosque.
Enjoy the rest of your time roaming or watching people going around. Ovenright at the hotel.
Day 2: Chefchaouen-Rabat-Casablanca
After breakfast & check out in the morning.
Transfer to Rabat via the Rif Mountains that has vast olive trees and where numerous olive mills are built by farmers to extract the olive oil.
After 4 hours on the road, you’ll arrive to Rabat: the administrative capital of Morocco. Rabat is modern, net and has beautiful gardens.
The visit of Rabat includes the Udaya Kasbah, Mohamed V Mausoleum and Hassan uncompleted mosque. After lunch, Transfer to Casablanca.
Depending on the arrival time, an inner visit of the mosque will be included, before transferring to the hotel. Check in and over night at the hotel.
Day 3: Casablanca to Essaouira
Breakfast at the hotel. If the visit of the Mosque has not performed the day before, you’ll see Hassan 2 Mosque and then travel to Essaouira.
Arrive around noon. Hotel check in and start your Essaouira exploration.
Enjoy the beautiful medina which is considered a UNESCO site. Take a walk into the Sqala (fort) that gives out to the Atlantic Ocean and home to the game of thrones movie.
See small boats filled with daily fresh catches that fishermen sell in the harbor, and take a break and listen to the waves of the ocean in a rhythmic vibes .
Day 4: Essaouira-Agadir-Taroudant
Breakfast and hotel check out. Travel along the Atlantic Ocean to Agadir while enjoying nice beaches and Argan forest where the goats climb the Argan trees to eat the pulp or the leaves of the tree.
Arrive to Agadir: this modern city, rebuilt in the early 60s after a devastating earthquake, but offer nice beaches, and green parks. Take pictures of a beautiful view from the Agadir Oufela and see the Kasbah.
Walk down the streets along the beach and you may wish to visit the Crocoparc for crocodiles.
After lunch, transfer to Taroudant. Possible visit of the Tanneries (leather treatement) before hotel check in.
Free and easy to walk in the markets of the little Marrakech: Taroudant and admire its huge ramparts, and beautiful gates. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: Taroudant - Tafraoute
After breakfast, you’ll be taken heading the South of Morocco driving through the Argan trees and lost villages. On the way, you will have the chance to see one of the old bank system in the world ” Igoudar”. This local system allows to maintain peopls’ belongings in secured and guarded rooms at a safeset area.
After a visit of one of these places, we continue through the Mountains of Anti-Atlas with its nice rock formation and beautiful Amlen valley. Arrive to Tafraoute: known for its pink granite mountains. Visit the colored rocks and engraving stones.
Back to the hotel and enjoy a free evening in its traditional market. Over night at the hotel.
Day 6: Tafraoute-Foum Zguid
Breakfast and departure to Foum Zguid: the gate into the desert.
Cross the small Atlas Mountains (Anti-Atlas) with its beautiful valleys of palm & Acacia trees. Travel through the village of Issafen and stop for lunch in Tata.
The itinerary will treat you with really amazing views of the unspoiled Morocco from rocky deep valleys with vegetation & barren plateau where nomads take care of their goats.
Enjoy views of villages made of adobe-clay and stones to defeat the heat of summer and the cold winter nights.
Continue the rest of the journey to Foum Zguid. Easy time and rest. Overnight.
Day 7 : Foum Zguid-Erg Chegaga
Start the desert exploration from Foum Zguid. Travel on off road on black desert stones. Traverse the lake of Iriki: seasonal lake with water on rainy season and dust only during drought periods! it is a vast dry lake.
Continue further to Erg Chegaga where you’ll be transferred to the camp.
Have a welcoming tea and then check in.
Later on, take a camel ride to the sand dunes where you’ll enjoy the beautiful sunset over Erg Chegaga.
Back and enjoy moments at the camp where dinner and breakfast will be served. Have great time with the campers while playing their music and enjoy a beautiful sky filled with stars at night.
NB: if you are not into adventure to the desert, we can suggest to travel to Zagora and spend the night in the hotel or at the Zagora desert Camp.
Day 8 : Erg Chegaga-Ouarzazate
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Mhamid el Ghizlane on offroad passing via the sacred oasis. After 2 hours on offroad, you take a break for cafe in Mhamid, from where you join the road and travel to Zagora via Tagounite.
Join the Draa valley with its 200 KM palm dates trees and adobe made home villages.
Take a break for lunch in Zagora and continue via Agdez and Ait saouen village to reach Ouarzazate in the early evening. Hotel check in & overnight.
Day 9: Ouarzazate-Marrakech
Breakfast at the hotel.
The tour of Ouarzazate may include the Atlas Studio for Cinema, and a picture of Taourirt Kasbah. Travel furthern to the most known Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou which is a UNESCO protected site. The Kasbah is known as movie spot for numerous films like the Gladiator and game of thrones.
After a guided visit of the kasba, you’ll travel further on Ounila valley and see mines of salt. Enjoy picturesque views of the high Atlas Mountains and via the Tizi N Tichka pass (2260 M attitude) to reach Marrakech in the evening. Drop off at your hotel.
